Bedroom Dimensions not Dynamics!

As we spend most of our time….although not always awake….in the bedroom, the dimensions and the placement of your furniture can impact your day.  Particularly if you wake up and stub your toe the first thing in the morning. The comfort and solace that we seek at the end of the day and in the early morning are enhanced by the layout of your bedroom. I pulled this article from Houzz because I found it provided specific dimensions and design ideas to maximize your bedroom furniture placement potential. When real estate is becoming increasingly more expensive per square foot. Creativity becomes a must when dealing with smaller spaces.
From small spaces, to night tables, cribs, dressers, ceilings and sitting areas Stephen Randel details exact placement for your furniture and reasons why they work. Remodeling, sprucing or reinventing….need some suggestions..http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/25889748/list/Key-Measurements-to-Help-You-Design-Your-Dream-Bedroom

Before & After Town Home

Pacchetti-13-EditPacchettilr

Remodeled this town home to make it more attractive to the buying public on a budget and in two weeks! Producing a contemporary feel to what was dated and bland.  Original cream carpet with vanilla paint was replaced with engineered hand scraped hardwood floors, new fixtures and contrasting paint colors.

Traditional Master Bedroom – Updated

This traditional bedroom by LA designer and decorator Lindsay Pennington makes me want to read a book in bed! The color of the walls is Crisp Romaine and as she says, “It’s moody and ambiguously blue, green and gray, and it changes depending upon the lighting and what you place next to it.” She used an eggshell patina so there is a slight sheen.
The antique chinoiserie cabinet on the carved parsons table conceals the TV giving the room a more romantic feel.
I love vignettes anywhere especially when they include fresh flowers by the bed. The headboard is  upholstered in a neutral linen with a polished nickel nailhead trim. The bedding consists of a quilted silk coverlet, cotton shams and a velvet bolster.

Renters Design Dream!

HBX-SELF-ADHESIVE-TILE

This is a great idea for a temporary facelift or a renter wanting a commitment free improvement to their new surroundings. These grout-less tiles and designs produced by Marine Wall Tiles are marine grade plywood suited for moist conditions. The company states that they resist delaminating, warping and mold. The magnets on each corner of the tile attach to a corresponding steel sticker for installation and pattern design.

Customizable with a color combination choice from their Pantone, the tiles are built to last and suitable for both residential and commerical projects.

Want to read a book in comfortable style?

Just love the feel of this master bedroom. The barn door, the light from the interior dormer windows, dark mahogany wood floors  and crisp white walls…then there is the color of the year, the orchid throw!  Not to mention this Massachusettes bedroom has an ocean view.

Adding Space to a Room

Tight on space, build your own furniture unit! I think this is a great way to add storage space and lighting in a small bedroom.  The built in shelving and drawers become the housing for what makes your room comfortable and relaxing to you. Elegance and comfort in a small space.

Bedroom Comfort and Style = Relaxing Retreats

I think there is nothing more inviting than being able to bring the outdoors into the serenity of your bedroom.  French doors opening onto your patio is a perfect way to not only add space to your room but brighten it as well….and with the addition of a water feature you don’t even need to escape to a spa for the relaxing sound of a fountain. If you have windows in your room now knock out the remainder of the wall, install the French doors and voila, instant access to the yard!  Need a great contractor? I have excellent choices for you on the Tool Bar.
